The Last Pig is a lyrical meditation on what it means to be a sentient creature with the power to kill. Deeply immersive, the film follows a farmer through his final year of slaughtering pigs. As the seasons pass, the farmer admits his admiration for the pigs – and his growing conflict over “peddling in death.” Deeply personal, the film unfolds unhurriedly, often in real time, asking the viewer to stop…and experience: the gaze of a pig, the trust, the steel-hooked slaughterhouse, and the ghosts. The film invites the viewer to contemplate our dominion over others.
