Bringing Science to Conservation

Conservation was long hampered by a shortage of data and lack of theoretical frameworks. But increasingly, science has been empowering and transforming conservation. For example, after scientists gained an understanding of how ecosystems actually work—how the components interact—conservationists have been able to find levers to upgrade damaged habitats.
